
Building Green Futures is a small business development program created by NAMC-Oregon to provide Members and their teams access to low and no cost certification training, mentorship and opportunities in Oregon’s fast-growing green economy.
This innovative new program connects Members to the clean energy sector through targeted group and one-on-one technical assistance, industry resources and events, mentorship from established green businesses, and access to sustainable project opportunities. Through specialized training, tailored business support, and practical marketing tools, Building Green Futures empowers these businesses to expand their capabilities, strengthen their market position, and secure a lasting role in Oregon’s green construction economy.
The Building Green Futures program is funded in part by the City of Portland, Portland Clean Energy Fund (PCEF).

Explore Solar Careers Through Real-World Training Experience
The Portland Clean Energy Fund (PCEF) presents a 2.5-day, hands-on solar installation training program designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and the growing career opportunities available in the solar industry.
Led by experienced solar professionals, this training combines classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, and supervised outdoor lab activities using a dedicated training roof.
Participants will gain practical experience with key solar installation skills, including:
-Identifying roof rafters and creating roof layouts
-Installing roof flashings and mounting equipment
-Handling and connecting solar modules
-Managing electrical wiring and connections
-Testing and troubleshooting PV equipment
The program will conclude with a solar industry networking opportunity, where participants can connect with local solar contractors, explore career pathways, and provide feedback through a program evaluation.
This training is offered in collaboration with the Oregon Solar + Storage Industries Association (OSSIA).
Who Should Attend?
No prior training, education, or industry experience is required. This program is designed for individuals interested in exploring careers in the clean energy and solar industry.
Eligibility Requirements
Open to current NAMC-Oregon Members and their team.
Participants who successfully complete the full training will receive a Certificate of Completion and a stipend.

This 6-hour virtual training is designed to provide comprehensive preparation for the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) v5 Green Associate credential exam.
Participants will strengthen their understanding of sustainable design and construction, explore how the LEED green building system is applied to projects, and review the key concepts and strategies needed to successfully complete the exam.
• Audience: Architects, Engineers, Construction Professionals, Energy Managers, Interior Designers, Environmental Scientists, Urban Planners, Building Product Manufacturers, Real Estate Professionals, and individuals interested in sustainability and green building
• Prerequisites: None
• Course schedule: One live virtual 5hr workshop with two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute break
• Credential earned: Participants who pass the official exam will earn the LEED Green Associate credential. Completing the workshop alone does not award the credential.
• Training and exam cost: Free for current NAMC-Oregon members and/or their team. The workshop and official LEED Green Associate exam fee are fully covered. Participants will receive instructions for registering for the exam after completing the training.
Important Exam Information
LEED is currently transitioning from the v4 exam to the updated v5 exam. The final LEED v5 Green Associate exam is expected to become available in October 2026. Beta testing is available during the transition, but beta exam results and credentials will not be issued until the exam review process is completed. LeadingGreen recommends waiting for the final exam release in October 2026 before taking the official exam.
*The workshop prepares you for the LEED Green Associate exam. The credential is awarded only after you pass the official exam.
