Willie Davis Jr., already a successful business owner of Just Bucket Excavating Inc., recognized an opportunity in the market for a fuel delivery company owned by African Americans. Together with fellow owners Bryce Rawer, Kiauna Floyd, and Richard Harris, they formed Fleet Fuels with the aim of benefiting the BIPOC business community, creating employment opportunities, and supporting customers’ diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. Fleet Fuels, the state’s only African American-owned fuel company, currently employs two truck drivers and is preparing a third through Knife River’s training center. Davis praised Knife River’s support and scholarships provided to apprentice workers, showcasing their commitment to the BIPOC community. Fleet Fuels has partnered with Star Oil, a veteran-owned company dedicated to supporting minority businesses in the Portland community, providing training support, fuel deliveries, and technical assistance.
